Spam and Spyware

Spam generally refers to unwanted commercial e-mail that is typically sent in bulk to thousands or even millions of recipients. Stopping spam and spyware is not easy. Here are spam affects an organization in several ways :
- Productivity, spam wastes peoples time, maybe a little, maybe a lot.
- Support cost, many users call the helpdesk to complain about spam and to ask that it be stopped.
- Liability, a different angle on liability may result when employees find themselves victims of phishing scams that were delivered to their inboxes.
- Overhead, the additional volume of spam is filling up networks, servers, and mailboxes.
- Malware, an increasing percentage of spam contains malicious code like viruses, worms, and trojan horses
